Keeping it Real
Years ago, a common phrase was often thrown around: “people don’t need to know how the sausage is made”, but now we know better – we absolutely need to understand how (and yikes, of what?!) our products are created. Enter brand and product transparency. The goal behind transparency is to earn the trust of consumers by showing that there is nothing to hide that would be cause for alarm. It’s about being open, honest, and genuine. The art of brand transparency is educating without boring, or worse intimidating people and turning them away (a very wise person once said, a confused mind says no).
Transparency can mean different things to different companies, but it boils down to trust. Simple, right? Just make people trust you! Ok so there isn’t one magic formula that will result in earning the trust in all consumers but there are steps that help to make sure you are headed in the right direction and each step involves communication. Communicate easily, honestly, and genuinely about your product or service. Peel away your layers and show what makes you stand above your competition. And if you can do this without confusing anyone, you are well on your way to building trust through brand transparency.
